There is no exact pin point as to when cricket all began but people strongly believe that is was devised by the Saxon or Norman times played by the children. The game was believed to of originally been a children’s game and was soon later picked up by the adults around the beginning of the 17th century.  
The games were quite popular in England and became an attraction for gambling. Soon after there was professional players and major clubs across England, people now saw cricket as a social activity.  The game soon spread to west India and North America through the sailors and traders on the East India Company.
In the early days of the sport, none of the players had protective clothing and just played in their everyday outfits. In 1743 a painting depicted a cricket scene was the players were wearing white clothing, white knee-length stockings, breeches, and shoes with buckles. The bat used in that time resembles the modern version of a hockey stick; this was perfect for hitting the ball. .on the ground.
